Learn Photography - My Recommendations - Book of the Week

I've read a lot of books over the years on all kinds of subjects about photography.  I always have something I'm reading or a DVD I'm watching.  I need information coming in at all times.  (My brain never shuts off)  If you look at the time it's now almost midnight and here I sit, brain buzzing like a weed eater!

I heard about this guy Scott Kelby.  He's the one who has Photoshop User TV.  He is also the head of National Association of Photoshop Professionals.  He had some best selling books on Digital Photography so I bought Book 1 (usually you should if you're going to buy a series) .  This is the first book I ever read on photography that my head wasn't jerking back because I kept dozing off.  I laughed through the whole thing.  So much so, that I had to re-read most of it because I couldn't remember what I read half the time.  (Due to what I'm sure is a brain disorder, a blonde moment, etc.)  Start with this book - or buy the series (you'll save some money) You won't be sorry because Scott talks to you like you are standing there having a conversation.  I can just imagine his jolly laugh while he's cracking the many, many jokes he has all through the books.  AND BY THE WAY!  You better read the intro (also pretty funny) because you'll miss the free stuff he gives away in some links he shares with you.  Here you go.  Start with these and then we'll talk about some other ones.  Best price is on Amazon.  Here's the links.  (buy them together, you'll save, I promise)  (Christmas is coming, great gift idea)

and next week we'll talk about some other great books, including more from Scott Kelby.

Holiday Photo Shoot - Now Is the Time!

 Hi all,

This past weekend I did a photo shoot for a friend of mine.  They wanted family photos for their holiday cards.  I was all for it and decided to use our cabin in the Adirondacks as the perfect background for holiday portraits.  I decorated the fireplace and the room with all the trimmings, set up the studio lights and the guests arrived.  Little Emmy is 18 months and was all excited that she was somewhere new and had two new doggies to play with.   I sat her in a chair to do a light meter reading and that was about the only 5 seconds she sat still.   If we thought she was having her picture taken, she had other ideas.  She turned the motor to high gear and off she went!!

I had fun, even though mom and dad tried everything to get Emmy to cooperate.  She is so adorable.  When you take your kids for pictures sometimes they won't sit still.  There just isn't anything you can do about small children and their energy.   Here a just a few of the pictures.   HA - Enjoy!  Little Emmy went home and just crashed and so did mom and dad. LOL

Happy Holidays!! HA HA

This is what Emmy thought of her photo shoot!
